Sweater weather

OK, it is dang cold out there. Cold and rainy. We got our first snow earlier in the week, which briefly turned our house into something resembling a Currier and Ives lithograph...the snow seems to hide the landscaping things we didn't quite get around to. Snow covered over the semi-unweeded garden beds, gangly shrubs, and the dead begonias in the front porch pots. Then things warmed up yesterday and it all melted. Back to cold and mud.

I'm sitting on the couch with a warm, snoring brown doggo wedged between me and the sofa arm, which makes up somewhat for the fact that we're keeping the thermostat low this winter. Nothing relaxes me more than hanging out with one of our babies (either the human kind or the furry four-footed kind) conked out on me. The kids really won't do that anymore unless they're sick, and of the two dogs, only one is comfortable sleeping on me. The other is extremely affectionate and loving too, but while he loves being patted and scratched, he is not a lap snuggler and tends to curl up nearby on the floor.

I probably should try and say something deep and meaningful, since there's a lot going on right now (big life decisions and so on), but I'm suddenly falling asleep. A good night to curl up someplace warm myself...and I just realized I pulled our sheets off the bed and forgot to make it back up with new sheets. Oops, better go deal with that before I pass out from exhaustion.
